Starting directly from the Tuamotus, we will take you sailing through some of the most beautiful atolls of the Pacific. These islands at the end of the world host multiple diving sites, some world famous, others accessible only by catamaran, out of sight and out of sight.

These flat islands are distinguished by heavenly anchorages, shallow depths and translucent water. However, known to be difficult to access, entry into the lagoons, through few and tecnical passes, is reserved for experienced sailors.

Description of the Fakarava – Rangiroa itinerary over 12 days on board diving with private instructor (265 nm)

Day 1

Embark on your catamaran… and take the time to relax or take advantage of this first day for a scuba diving with one of the local clubs or simply a snorkeling session around the boat. Explore the village and meet its friendly inhabitants before enjoying the first sunset on Fakarava aboard your Excess.

Day 2

This morning, head south east of the atoll towards one of the most famous kitesurfing sites in Polynesia, nevertheless preserved by being inaccessible without a boat. A few hours of navigation along the interior of the lagoon will allow you to reach the heavenly anchorage of Hirifa.

Water sports enthusiasts will immediately be charmed: Clear shallow water protected by a sandbank allowing easy takeoffs and constant trade winds almost all year round. For those who wish to set foot on land, Jean’s family will be delighted to welcome you to their motu and even offers catering.

Day 3

After a morning wingfoil session, weigh anchor towards the famous southern pass of Fakarava. Enjoy an hour of sailing in the lagoon to memorize the different species of fish and sharks that you are about to encounter while diving, and try your hand at trolling. The timeless anchorage would make you want to stay there forever. Meet at the pass with the dinghy for a first snorkeling session. A sea trench of almost 30m is revealed and you can already guess, lurking at the bottom, all the marine fauna that inhabits it.

Day 4

Diving program for this fourth day, explore with the Tetamanu club the Tamakohua pass and its (very) numerous gray sharks. A unique and unforgettable experience awaits you beneath the surface. The local ecosystem is particularly rich and the visibility is exceptional. The most adventurous will wait until night for an immersive dive as close as possible to wild fauna in full activity: Schools of barracudas, groupers, perch, napoleons, etc… up to the cave and its famous shark wall.

Day 5

After waking up again at the end of the world, head back to the village via the central channel. A few hours of downwind sailing will bring you back to your safe port, where you can stock up on fresh produce and enjoy a brief return to civilization (relative all the same!) Then raise the sails again towards the northern pass , the largest in Polynesia, for a magnificent drift dive between colorful coral canyon and very varied marine fauna

Day 6

Your Excess sets sail early this morning of the sixth day for a crossing of around twenty miles on the high seas towards the neighboring atoll of Toau. Dolphins play in your bow as you cross the northern pass of Fakarava. Sail to the southeast pass of Toau and immediately anchor at Teahuroa, in a wild and uninhabited lagoon. Dive with your private instructor in the Faketahuna pass, a little further north and remarkable for its coral and marine fauna.

Day 7

You are still alone in the world, the sun rises over Toau inviting you to once again enjoy its crystalline depths and its timeless tranquility, before weighing anchor and setting sail for the west of the atoll, passing again out to sea to reach l’Anse d’Amyot, a very particular false pass, embedded in the coral reef and open to the ocean. Gaston’s family lives on the neighboring atoll and welcomes you with a catering service, mooring on a buoy at the end of the world.

Day 8

In the early morning, wait for the current to come in to enjoy exceptional visibility in the bay and set off to meet the groupers, rays and sharks that inhabit this magical place. The seabed there is particularly preserved, if not immaculate. Take advantage of a stopover on land and meet Gaby, Gaston and Valentine, managers of the motu and its restaurant.

Day 9

You leave Toau at dawn for another 20 mile downwind sail towards Apataki. The pass, although narrow, is passable without difficulty. You skirt the village then continue your route towards Motu Rua Vahine, well sheltered from the trade winds.

Day 10

Take advantage of this tenth day in Apataki to go to the village and meet its inhabitants, dive in the pass, and leave the atoll at the end of the afternoon for the start of a long navigation of 80 miles downwind towards Rangiroa. The Excess heads northwest under the stars, as you pass the Kaukura and Arutua atolls.

Day 11

The fishing has been fruitful, the day dawns as you sail along the eastern motu of Rangiroa. You enter the slack atoll in the Tiputa pass accompanied by its dolphins, go around the Nuhi Nuhi motu then anchor near the Kia Ora hotel. Welcome to another diver paradise!

Day 12

Explore the seabed of the Tiputa Pass with a local club, renowned for observing dolphins, gray, lemon and hammerhead sharks. You cross the pass by drifting with the current through a vast canyon, where you come across Leopard Rays, Moray Eels and other sharks. Enjoy one last moment aboard your Excess then return to land before returning to Tahiti or a few more days in the Rangiroa atoll, which still has a lot to offer.
