The trends for the yacht market in 2025

2025 Yacht market update : signs of a rebound

The first half of 2025 was challenging for the global yacht market. New orders slowed dramatically, and sales of both powerboats and catamarans dropped. The pre-owned market was equally sluggish, with buyers hesitant to commit. However, as the year progressed, the picture began to change. By late summer, we began to witness a noticeable rebound.

Several factors have contributed to this recovery. Asking prices on pre-owned yachts adjusted downward by 15–20%, making opportunities more attractive for buyers who had been waiting on the sidelines. Builders, too, responded with meaningful discounts and flexible financing options on new boats, helping restore confidence in the market. At the same time, the launch of exciting new models has energized sailors eager to invest in their next adventure.

More broadly, there has been a shift in mindset. After years of uncertainty, people are rediscovering the value of real-world adventure—ocean rallies, long charters, and extended cruising. This renewed appetite for meaningful experiences has brought new energy into the industry.

European boat shows this autumn confirmed the trend. Although attendance at Cannes and La Rochelle was lower than in previous years, those who came were serious buyers, and the high-end segment saw strong activity. Premium catamarans, trawlers, and crossover powerboats were particularly in demand.

At Sail Tahiti, our brands have thrived in this new environment. Excess Catamarans, in just five years, has become one of the leading names in the market. Sailors have been drawn to its balance of performance, comfort, and minimalist design—qualities perfectly aligned with the spirit of world cruising. Meanwhile, Beneteau’s Gran Turismo range has been a breakout success, blending the brand’s expertise with Alpine’s distinctive styling to deliver yachts that are both sophisticated and seaworthy.

Closer to home, pre-owned boat sales in French Polynesia have been especially strong in recent months, with many of our catamaran listings either sold or under offer. At the same time, we are adding new blue-water-ready monohulls to our portfolio, offering exciting options for sailors preparing to set off on their own adventures.
