They chose the Beneteau Flyer 7 Spacedeck!
Interview with Léna Candalot, hotel owner, on her choice of a boat for tourism business
We chose the Beneteau Flyer 7 for our tourism business because it allows us to meet all the expectations of our customers with water activities such as snorkeling, water sports, sunset outings or private dinners on the lagoon – L’Apatoa Garden & Beach Village

Léna can you introduce the Apatoa Garden & Beach Village?
The Apatoa Beach & Garden Village is a family-run 4-star hotel project due to open on the southern tip of Raiatea in 2024. It will feature 15 bungalows, a private villa, a bar, a restaurant, a spa, a swimming pool and a beach, as well as a cultural centre based around the existing marae on this remarkable lagoon-side site. Our family-run structure, whose architecture is inspired by Polynesian seashells, embraces the values of ecology and authenticity, giving pride of place to endemic plants and cultural discovery activities. The ‘glamping’ spirit combines the rustic charm of camping with a glamorous, sophisticated edge. The bungalows are topped with tent covers for natural ventilation.
Why are you investing in a boat?
We will be offering a variety of water-based activities at different times of the day: snorkelling, water sports, sunset outings with aperitifs or private dinners on the lagoon in the evening. The boat also allows us to take our customers to discover the island’s various remarkable sites. By acquiring a Beneteau Flyer 7 we will be able to meet all our customers’ expectations. It’s an additional source of income.
Why did you choose the Beneteau brand?
Choosing the Bénéteau brand is your guarantee of a quality boat, built to the highest international standards. Beneteau represents the excellence of a French brand in terms of both finish and robustness. The ergonomics are well thought out thanks to the work of professional designers, and the finishes match the standing of our hotel.
What did you like in the Beneteau Flyer 7?
It’s a versatile boat and the size is ideal for our needs. It will allow us to accommodate between 6 and 8 guests, with a length of 7 metres that is very practical for sailing in the lagoon. The Flyer 7 is both compact and luxurious, with comfortable upholstery. It meets the high standards we need for our business. It offers plenty of storage space for coolers, water sports equipment, etc.
What equipment did you choose for your Beneteau Flyer 7?
We chose elegant upholstery range, which adds to the quality and finish. We also decided to add a bimini with an extension at the front of the boat, which will allow us to sail with or without the bimini, depending on our activities. We’ve also chosen a towing mast for water sports, as well as a sound system for a slightly more lounge atmosphere. We’ve added removable electric coolers, as recommended by the Sail Tahiti team, to provide catering services on the boat while respecting the need to preserve food correcty in the tropics.
Can you tell us a few words about Sail Tahiti?
In a few words, they were exceptional throughout the whole process. They understood our needs and helped us choose our boat and its configuration. We’d like to thank the whole team, and in particular David and Lionel, who were there for us every step of the way. We look forward to working with you again and welcoming you to Apatoa very soon.

An expert’s view
Lionel Rodolausse, technical manager at Sail Tahiti
The Flyer 7 impresses with its level of comfort and its deck layout, which can accommodate 2 groups of passengers in 2 convivial areas. It’s easy to circulate on the boat, and easy and safe to get into and out of the water for swimming. These are important points for family outings with children or the elderly, as well as for tourist activities. The hull handles the sea superbly and reaches high speeds without requiring a large engine. During our test run, we reached 33 knots with the 150hp Mercury. That’s a big factor in the profitability of a project for a hotel or service provider. The storage capacity is ideal, with both a cabin and numerous lockers. This allows us to offer our customers tailor-made options: toilets, electric coolers, water sports equipment, etc. And the finishes are of a quality that appeals to our customers.
